Disney has announced Star Wars Land for Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios this passed weekend at the D23 Expo. The land will feature 2 new attractions and will be 14-acres. Stars Wars Land is set on a never-before-seen planet that’s a remote trading port. This is the largest themed land in a Disney park so far.
At Disneyland, they have announced that it will be located at the back of the park behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. They haven’t announced the location for the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version, but I think it will be near Star Tours.
There is no completion date announced yet, but starting later this year a new preview area called Star Wars Launch Bay will open at both parks. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios it will be located in the Animation Courtyard, and at Disneyland it will be located in Tomorrowland. This will give you a look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens with behind-the-scenes looks and meet and greets with Star Wars characters. There will also be special merchandise and food offerings too.
This will be interesting to hear more about this and see how Disney’s Hollywood Studios will change with this being built. What is your favorite part about this new area that has been announced?
